Evciler Schist Topography
Rocks from the Menderes Massif that have undergone metamorphism can be found in the area of Evciler Village. These rocks typically consist of fine-grained rocks with ages exceeding 600 million years, such as mica schist, quartzite schist, chlorite schist, etc.
Around Evciler Village, interesting landforms with slopes of 45–60 degrees are created by the schists of the Menderes Massif. Due to tectonic activities in earlier geological periods, sedimentary layers that were buried deep beneath the surface underwent regional metamorphism and tectonic deformations. These rocks, which were exposed as a result of erosion and tectonic movements, created fascinating rock formations by decomposing in varying degrees along their weak zones.
Evciler Volkanic Canyon
Evciler Volcanic Canyon formed when Söütçay Creek, a tributary of the Gediz River, began to incise into the basaltic lava flow of Burgaz volcanites aged around 1 million years. The Canyon has a depth of 30 meters and a length of about 10 kilometers. It has a diverse geodiversity that cuts through Flavio-lacustrine deposits and Palaeozoic metamorphics. On the edge of the volcanic canyon, there are a few caves, basalt columns, seasonal waterfalls, and fossil soil layers. The Volcanic Canyon is an important area for wildlife and plant diversity.
